I love you, Lynda!

Are you a web or graphic designer? Blogger? Do you just want to learn more about computers in general? Look no further than Lynda.com.

Lynda.com is a leader in online computer training. You can teach yourself every you ever wanted to know- and then some!- about: Photoshop, blogging, HTML, PHP, Microsoft Office, animation, CSS, email, social networking, color theory, digital photography... and that's just the tip of the iceberg! If you can do it on a computer, Lynda.com probably has an in-depth video series for it.

I first became familiar with Lynda.com back in January, 2007. I went on a trip with my digital media adviser/professor to a MacWorld conference in San Francisco. This was an incredible opportunity because this was the very same conference in which Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone to the world. We were lucky enough to score platinum passes which placed us just feet from the stage, while other attendees had to stand outside and watch on little tiny TV screens, haha.

Anyhow, MacWorld hosts all kinds of seminars, among which one was Photoshop. CS3 had not yet been unveiled at this point, and in the seminar our host, Michael Ninness, introduced us to some of the new features CS3 was going to have. He also gave a brief overview of how to use the program for those who may not be as experienced.

The classes were long, averaging about 3-4 hours. When we went on lunch break, Michael says to the crowd: "Anybody who brings me a Red-Bull after the break will get a free 30 day trial of the website." Very much interested in learning more about the site, I purchased a Red-Bull for $7 from one of the lunch carts, haha. About a week later, I received an email with my free trial membership details. (It doesn't take this long to get an account set up with them, there was just a delay due to the conference). I also managed to stop by the Lynda.com booth where they would discuss the website with folks who didn't get the opportunity to sit in on the class. By the end of the week, the folks manning the booth were very familiar with me! haha

So anyhow, I gave my trial a spin, and I've been a loyal subscriber ever since. I am so happy with this site. If there's something you want to know about or learn more about.. this site has it covered in incredible detail. Each topic carries hours upon hours of video tutorials- some of the more popular topics such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc contain hundreds of hours. This is because you get different tutorials covered by different authors to give you the most comprehensive learning experience possible.

Forget Video Professor- he's too expensive and could never cover as many topics so thoroughly. I highly, highly, highly recommend this website to anybody who wants to learn more about computers, code, design.. whatever.

    About Me

    My photo
I'm rather shy at first, but once you get to know me I'm a pretty open person. I'm honest and don't believe in lying. I'm a dedicated, loyal and hard working individual, and I am just as dedicated and loyal to be lazy! haha I am also a very dedicated and loyal friend; I would do anything for my friends. I wouldn't exactly call myself an optimist, but I do try to look on the bright side of things rather than dwell on the dark side- such as things you have no control over and can't change. I'm also very independent. I prefer a night in with my cat to a night at the bar. It's not that I don't enjoy my friends' company, I'm just not a publicly social person.

    About Blog Soup...

Blog Soup is my own personal blog, very much similar to a 'work at home mom' blog. The only difference is, I'm not a mom, haha. I enjoy meeting and exchanging information with new people.. one of the many reasons I decided to start this blog. I wanted to be able to share my life with the world. Some of the things you can expect to see on blog soup are product reviews, website reviews, tips on getting the most out of your money, freebies and daily cash giveaways- my way of saying 'Thank You!' for being a loyal subscriber.
